About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our client’s Belfast-based engineering team. This is a pivotal, hands-on role centered around a significant live re-platforming project. The primary focus will be migrating legacy applications into Amazon Web Services (AWS) and modernizing them to align with cloud-native best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior engineering team, taking ownership of infrastructure design, implementation, and ongoing optimization. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence architecture decisions, contribute to the organization’s DevOps practices, and make a tangible impact on a high-profile project. The position is hybrid, with a mix of remote work and in-office collaboration, primarily on Mondays and Thursdays.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly within the AWS ecosystem. Strong Linux fundamentals are essential, along with a solid grasp of networking principles and distributed architectures. Proven experience in managing and operating production environments end-to-end is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with containerized workloads using Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes, and be proficient in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or similar. Additionally, scripting skills in Bash, Python, Go, or equivalent languages are necessary. While not mandatory, familiarity with tools like Ansible, Cloudflare, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, as well as observability platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, or ELK, will be advantageous. Experience contributing to cloud migration projects or working within multi-tenant SaaS environments is also desirable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
