Job Opportunity: DevOps Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps Engineer based in United Kingdom.

This role offers the opportunity to build and maintain reliable, scalable infrastructure in a fully remote, international engineering environment.

You will work on modernizing existing systems, improving platform stability, and strengthening the foundations of a security-focused product ecosystem.

The position combines backend development, infrastructure engineering, automation, and problem-solving across complex distributed systems.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers to improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Your work will directly contribute to delivering secure, high-quality solutions used by businesses worldwide.

Accountabilities:

  • The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, improving, and maintaining backend infrastructure while contributing to the evolution of scalable and reliable systems. This role requires strong technical ownership, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams.
  • Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure and services.
  • Develop and enhance product features from initial design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues by analyzing code, systems, and production environments.
  • Operate and maintain large-scale server infrastructure, including API gateways, load balancers, and internal processing systems.
  • Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient, automated, and reliable software delivery.
  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality code and system stability.
  • Monitor production performance, identify improvement opportunities, and proactively enhance reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve architecture, technical direction, and system maintainability.
  • Support infrastructure modernization initiatives by reducing technical debt and simplifying processes.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, DevOps engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one high-level programming language.
  • Experience designing and operating backend services with a strong understanding of scalability, performance, concurrency, and reliability.
  • Hands-on experience building and managing high-throughput data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Kafka, ClickHouse, RabbitMQ, or similar solutions.
  • Experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and in-memory databases such as Redis.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, NoSQL systems, and key-value storage solutions.
  • Practical experience with Docker and Docker Compose for development and production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability systems.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD practices, Git workflows, automated testing, and deployment processes.
  • Excellent debugging and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes of complex issues.
  • Ability to use metrics and user feedback to support data-driven technical decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within distributed teams.
  • Upper-intermediate written and spoken English proficiency.
  • Experience with Django is a plus.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or similar technologies is an advantage.
