DevOps Engineer
Senior DevOps Engineer – Tech for Good
Location: Remote (London-based), quarterly onsite visits
Oliver Bernard are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their EdTech client, a London-based organisation specialising in AI and data-driven platforms. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding their DevOps function, driving scalability, influencing product growth, and embedding best practices across the organisation.
About the Role
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in Tech for Good. You’ll lead DevOps initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with development teams to enhance infrastructure, automation, and reliability. Successful candidates will:
- Shape the direction of DevOps strategy
- Spearhead scalability efforts
- Champion best practices and automation
- Work in a cross-functional, embedded role

- Lead DevOps-related discussions and decisions
- Mentor engineers, fostering continuous improvement
- Align on strategy with development, product & operations teams

Platform & Architecture Ownership
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure on AWS
- Orchestrate containerised applications at scale using Docker & Kubernetes
- Implement and refine Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with Terraform
- Develop & optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
Monitoring & Observability
- Manage monitoring solutions with Datadog
- Ensure high reliability, performance, and observability
Hands-On Development
- Engage in Python and AWS Lambda projects
Key Requirements
5–6+ years of senior-level DevOps experience—explicitly required
- AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with core AWS services
- Containerisation & Kubernetes: Mastery in deploying, scaling, and operating containers
- Terraform: Strong expertise in defining, provisioning, and managing infrastructure
- CI/CD: Practical experience building pipelines with GitHub Actions
- Monitoring: Experience with Datadog (or similar) for effective observability
- Python & Serverless: Recent involvement in projects using Python and AWS Lambda
