About the Role
This Senior DevOps Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to lead a major re-platforming project within a dynamic and innovative organization. Based in Belfast with a hybrid working pattern, this position involves:
- Leading the migration of legacy systems into cloud-native architectures on AWS.
- Taking a hands-on, strategic approach, influencing architecture decisions and driving modernization.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Core Competencies
- Extensive experience in AWS cloud environments, with a deep understanding of the full ecosystem (not siloed knowledge).
- Solid Linux fundamentals and advanced networking skills.
- Expertise in distributed system architectures.
- Hands-on end-to-end experience managing and operating production environments.
Technical Proficiencies
- Containerization: Proven experience with Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes.
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Proficiency in Terraform (or similar tools).
- Scripting: Strong skills in Bash, Python, Go, or comparable languages.
- Observability: Familiarity with Datadog, Splunk, or ELK stacks is advantageous.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS architectures.
- Previous involvement in cloud migration projects.
- Basics in Ansible, Cloudflare, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement AWS-based infrastructure solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and business-alignment.
- Lead the migration of legacy systems to modern architectures with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
- Develop and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code for automation and repeatability.
- Continuously improve system reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency.
- Modernize CI/CD pipelines for faster, safer deployments across environments.
- Support incident management—troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures.
- Enhance operational visibility through monitoring, logging, and tracing using industry-standard tools.
- Mentor junior engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to engineering standards and design reviews.
