I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cloud infrastructure, particularly within the AWS ecosystem. A solid foundation in Linux fundamentals is essential, complemented by strong networking knowledge and an understanding of distributed architectures. Proven experience in owning and managing production environments end-to-end is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with containerized workloads in production environments, using Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes. Proficiency in Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools is necessary, along with scripting skills in Bash, Python, Go, or equivalent languages. A demonstrated ability to develop scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure solutions is critical for success in this role.
While not mandatory, experience with tools such as Ansible, Cloudflare, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and observability platforms like Datadog, Splunk, or ELK will be considered advantageous. Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS architectures and previous involvement in cloud migration projects will also be beneficial.

- Modernize CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, safe delivery of updates and features across development, staging, and production environments.
- Support incident response efforts, troubleshoot issues, and improve operational visibility through monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions.
