Your role:
We continue to experience rapid demand and growth in iOS Development at Global Relay, as such we have multiple iOS teams working on exciting feature deliveries for our customers. We are looking for an DevOps lead who, together with their team, will leverage best DevOps practices and consolidate our Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines and deployment processes to maximise efficiencies and facilitate world leading software quality that our customers expect. The role will involve a combination of hands on technical activities and line management duties to maintain a high performing and motivated team.
Your responsibilities:
Given the varied nature of the role, your time will be split working across the following areas:
- Automation: Researching, innovating and developing solutions inline with DevOps best current practices
- Operations: Monitoring and streamlining tooling, processes or infrastructure to ensure smooth and consistent experience for our development teams
- Service reliability: Instrumenting monitoring to get the best our of our on-premise hardware and to ensure system issues are dealt with efficiently. Collaborate closely with our developer community providing support and troubleshooting when required.
- Technical leadership: Setting the strategic goals for iOS DevOps, ensuring scaling, efficiency and security needs are met through the activities of you and your team.
- People management: Ensuring the team maintains high motivation, working on the highest value priorities while also conducting regular 1 to 1's, coaching, guidance and performance management activities to develop your staff and maximise their potential.

Some of the technologies that you will interact with include:
- Build & Deployment Automation such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, Ansible
- Containerization/Virtualization (Docker/Podman)
- Instrumentation & Monitoring (Loki, Grafana, Mimir, Prometheus)
- Languages/Scripts: Python, Bash, Swift
Where you have knowledge gaps, training and shadowing opportunities will be provided.
About you:
You have an automation-first mindset. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and have a thirst for expanding your own technical horizons. You are able to work under pressure and you are a keen problem solver with a drive for finding efficient solutions to challenging problems.
- A minimum of 2 years working as a team lead
- 1-2 years using Xcode and Swift (Bonus)
- You are comfortable collaborating with cross functional areas
- Strong security awareness including security best practices surrounding Kubernetes
- Hands on experience in with Python and Bash
- You are comfortable working in a cross geographic team.
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals like threading, OOP and more
- Understanding of software systems concepts such as networking, firewalls, protocols, databases and more
- Some understanding of software delivery practices such as Git branching models and configuration management
- Experience with:
- CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or similar
- Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Containerisation/Virtualization technology such as Docker, Podman, VMware

Nice to haves:
- Experience in working in a highly regulated environment
- Experience in working within on-premise infrastructure or with managing a cluster of Mac Minis
- Understanding of software delivery practices such as feature toggling, no-downtime deployment
- iOS Experience
Employees are required to attend the office 4 days per week in accordance with Global Relay’s hybrid working policy.
