DevOps Specialist
DevOps Specialist – Bloomberg TOMS (FICC Trading Systems)
Hackajob is collaborating with HSBC to find an exceptional DevOps Specialist based in London to enhance Fixed Income Cash trading workflows within MSS IT.
About the Role
You will act as a senior DevOps Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Bloomberg TOMS (Trade Order Management System) and related trading applications, delivering technical excellence alongside modern engineering practices. This impactful role covers L2/L3 support, operational improvements, and automation to drive efficiency across the trade lifecycle (Fixed Income, particularly cash bonds, futures, and IRS).
Key responsibilities include:
- Leveraging AI/ML tooling (GitHub Copilot, approved GenAI) to accelerate productivity, automation, diagnostics and operational resilience
- Ownership of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, monitoring and observability
- Collaborating with business stakeholders, Product Owners (POs), Business Analysts (BAs) and technical leads to shape project delivery
- Perpetual learning and knowledge-sharing across trading processes, data integrity and security controls
Key Responsibilities

Application SME & L2/L3 Support
- Provide functional and technical support for Bloomberg TOMS and other Front Office trading systems
- Troubleshoot trade lifecycle issues (price contributions, reconciliation, P&L contributions)
- Escalate unresolved cases and assist in risk mitigation discussions

Technology Improvement & Efficiency
- Enhance CI/CD processes for faster, resilient production deployments
- Introduce automated testing, observability and runbook standards to reduce operational toil
- Identify and action platform bottlenecks (performance, stability, monitoring gaps)

Business Alignment
- Liaise closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts to refine backlogs and requirements
- Channel insights into user stories and test plan improvements

Ensuring Data Integrity & Security
- Upgrade documentation standards, embedding risk control and data security considerations in AI tooling implementations
Primary Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Demonstrated banking/financial technology experience, particularly with Front Office trading systems
- In-depth knowledge of Bloomberg TOMS architecture and common use cases
- FICC trade lifecycle mastery: Price contribution, P&L attribution and intra-/end-of-day valuation methodologies

DevOps & Engineering Practices
- Deep CI/CD competency with hands-on experience optimizing release workflows
- Experienced in Agile methodologies and how they intersect with operational deadlines
- Proven track record of introducing automation (developer/operations toolchains)
AI-Augmentation
- Practical experience deploying AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, codegen)
- Usage examples: Automated test generation, diagnostics scripts, or incident/knowledge base summaries
