An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Diabetes Specialist Midwife to join our expanding multidisciplinary diabetes and antenatal team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an experienced midwife with a passion for improving outcomes for women and birthing people with pre-existing diabetes and gestational diabetes. The successful candidate will work closely with obstetricians, diabetologists, diabetes specialist nurses, dietitians and community teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.

This is an excellent opportunity for a midwife wishing to develop specialist expertise in maternal medicine and diabetes care while contributing to service development and innovation.

The Post Holder Will

  • Act as a specialist resource for women and birthing people with diabetes during pregnancy.
  • Provide expert assessment, education, support and care planning.
  • Participate in specialist diabetes antenatal clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with obstetric, medical and neonatal colleagues to optimise maternal and neonatal outcomes.
  • Support women with blood glucose monitoring, medication management and lifestyle interventions.
  • Deliver education and support to midwifery and maternity staff regarding diabetes care pathways.
  • Contribute to audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of local and national maternity and diabetes standards.
