Diagnostic ATE Engineer

About the Role

My client is looking for Diagnostic ATE Test Engineers to work onsite in Wimborne, Dorset.

Responsibilities

There are a wide range of specialist wiring assemblies and test activities undertaken within the Manufacturing Department. The ATE Test Engineer will be responsible for testing of both analogue and digital products on automatic test equipment. Verifying product and documentation to product definitions including drawings, wiring schedules and Test procedures of equipment to both business and customer requirements.

The role will involve:

  • Testing electronic or electro-mechanical equipment (including low voltage, 110v, 230v, 440v and E.H.T. products) in accordance with the appropriate test specifications or instructions, utilising the test equipment specified (either bench testing or using ATE).
  • Locating faults in electronic or electro-mechanical equipment under test to component level.
  • Rectifying faults or initiating corrective action and recording fault information as required.
  • Recognising faults on test equipment, rectifying where permissible or initiating action for repair.
  • Maintaining good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness and complying with statutory safety regulations and relevant codes of practice.
  • Ensuring all paperwork (hard and soft copy) and electronic systems including ERP is completed accurately to ensure traceability.
  • Supporting the business with continuous improvement, 6S and lean manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of performing production testing using both commercial off the shelf and bespoke analogue test equipment.
  • Experience with the use of Teradyne automatic test equipment (for example Teradyne SP9000 would be an advantage).
  • Must be able to follow and interpret manufacturing documentation such as drawings, bills of materials and production testing specifications.
  • Ability to fault find to component level, read circuit diagrams, wiring schedules, precision and accuracy are important attributes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Good time management and task prioritisation skills with the ability to juggle various tasks.
  • Familiar with ESD procedures and IPC-A-610/620.

Desired Skills

  • Technical qualification HNC / ONC in Electronics or equivalent.
  • Qualification to IPC-A-610/620.
  • Experience of electrical assembly, precision cable preparation and soldering.

Additional Information

The Applicant must be able to lift/move test equipment and product. It may be necessary to work extended hours from time to time.
