Location: Medical Physics Department, Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby

About the Role

A critical opportunity has arisen for a Diagnostic Healthcare Assistant within the Medical Physics department. This department comprises three distinct teams:

  • Physiological Measurements
  • Neurophysiology
  • Nuclear Medicine

The Role

The Diagnostic Healthcare Assistant supports the multidisciplinary team through direct patient care and departmental administration across all three specialist diagnostic teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Clinical, technical, and administrative support across diagnostic procedures.
  • Effective communication with patients undergoing complex investigations, providing emotional support alongside clinical assistance.
  • Independent judgement when responding to patient needs within regulated healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

Under indirect supervision, the Diagnostic Healthcare Assistant will support efficient service delivery by:

Clinical & Technical Support

  • Preparing clinical examination rooms with necessary consumables, setting up for clinics.
  • Demonstrating understanding of diagnostic procedures for effective support.
  • Managing stock control to ensure readiness.

Patient Care & Investigations

  • Acting as a chaperone during tests, assisting with specialist diagnostic investigations.

Administration & Compliance

  • Under supervision, performing clinical pregnancy testing and urinalysis.
  • Ensuring safe, compliant operations through adherence to manufacturer specifications and departmental protocols.
  • Undertaking administrative and cleaning duties as required.

Medical Physics offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic investigations, supported by the diagnostic healthcare assistant across three core specialisms:
