About the Role
A critical opportunity has arisen for a Diagnostic Healthcare Assistant within the Medical Physics department. This department comprises three distinct teams:
- Physiological Measurements
- Neurophysiology
- Nuclear Medicine
The Role
The Diagnostic Healthcare Assistant supports the multidisciplinary team through direct patient care and departmental administration across all three specialist diagnostic teams. Key responsibilities include:

- Clinical, technical, and administrative support across diagnostic procedures.
- Effective communication with patients undergoing complex investigations, providing emotional support alongside clinical assistance.
- Independent judgement when responding to patient needs within regulated healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
Under indirect supervision, the Diagnostic Healthcare Assistant will support efficient service delivery by:
Clinical & Technical Support
- Preparing clinical examination rooms with necessary consumables, setting up for clinics.
- Demonstrating understanding of diagnostic procedures for effective support.
- Managing stock control to ensure readiness.
Patient Care & Investigations
- Acting as a chaperone during tests, assisting with specialist diagnostic investigations.

Administration & Compliance
- Under supervision, performing clinical pregnancy testing and urinalysis.
- Ensuring safe, compliant operations through adherence to manufacturer specifications and departmental protocols.
- Undertaking administrative and cleaning duties as required.
