Clinical Fellow in Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology – Surrey Memorial Hospital & Jim Pattison Outpatient Centre
Role Overview
Position: Full-time (1.0 FTE) radiologist Location:
- Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) – A 600+ bed community and academic teaching hospital, the largest acute-care facility in Fraser Health Authority, serving over 600,000 people.
- Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre (JPOCSC) – Modern facility specialising in ambulatory imaging, same-day surgery, and specialised clinics.
Department: Medical Imaging Departments at both Surrey Memorial Hospital and Jim Pattison Outpatient Center

The Medical Imaging Departments at SMH and JPOCSC provide a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services in British Columbia’s fastest-growing region.
Key Programs at SMH
SMH is a regional referral centre for complex care, including:
- Oncology
- Thoracic surgery
- Trauma and critical care
- Nephrology
- Maternal-child health
- One of the busiest Emergency Departments in the province
JPOCSC Focus Areas
The centre specialises in:
- High-volume outpatient imaging (CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography)
- Minor interventional procedures
- Scheduled same-day elective and urgent procedures
- Close integration with SMH to reduce surgical waitlists

Technical & Clinical Scope
The role encompasses general and subspecialty radiology with interventional commitments, including:
- Participation in multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient consultations
- Multidisciplinary clinical rounds
- Practice across multiple modalities (General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, MRI)
- Emphasis on low neurovascular interventions (excluding neuro/vascular stroke procedures)

Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
- Certification: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- Training: Fellowship-level specialised training (preference given for:
- Cardiothoracic Imaging
- Breast Imaging
- Neuroradiology – excluding neuro-vascular stroke interventions)
- Licensure: Eligibility for medical licensure with College of Physicians & Surgeons, BC
