Job Title: Diagnostician

Location: Belfast

To work as a diagnostician, testing assemblies on dedicated test equipment, fault diagnostics using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, bond testers etc on cables and electrical assemblies, to the quality standards demanded within the missile sub-assembly, assembly environment.

You will provide a flexible, adaptable, efficient and effective service to our internal/external customers at all times.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Testing on electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies used within Thales to ensure compliance and functionality.
  • Setting up, calibration and routine proving of dedicated test sets and equipment.
  • Understand and identify faults within items being tested.
  • Trace faults and error readings on items under test, using electrical test equipment and wiring diagrams.
  • Technical discussions with engineering personnel, to effectively relay information on problems and non-conformance.
  • Interact with company ERP systems to record results and non-conformance.
  • To fully adopt the principles of the 5’s housekeeping standard.
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement activities that are ongoing within the work place with the goal of eliminating waste and reduce operating costs. (Lean).

Skills:

  • Experienced PC user MS Word & Excel in particular.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Quick learner.
  • Working within a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure (to tight deadlines).
  • Must be capable of working to Manufacturing Instruction and Engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work to the quality standards required within the missile industry.
  • Analytical thinker (fault finding).
  • Experience in the use of oscilloscopes, multi-meters, bond testers.
  • Understanding and experience working with ESD sensitive devices and assemblies.
  • Can Do Attitude.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years electronic fault diagnosis in a Production environment or similar.
  • Demonstrable ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Telecommunications systems knowledge, and testing skills.
  • Fault finding, and repair of looms and circuit boards down to component level.
