Dialectical Behaviour Therapist (DBT) / Practitioner

Band 6 Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Therapist – Hafod Health

Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Therapist to join our established specialist DBT service. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based interventions to individuals experiencing:

  • Significant emotional dysregulation
  • Self-harm
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Complex mental health difficulties

This role provides a unique opportunity for clinicians specialising in personality disorder and complex emotional needs to further develop their specialist DBT skills in a supportive and experienced team.

Interviews will take place on 28/7/2026.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Deliver comprehensive DBT-informed assessments and provide individual therapy in line with evidence-based DBT principles and protocols.
  • Co-facilitate DBT skills training groups, contributing to a range of therapeutic interventions while maintaining treatment integrity.
  • Actively participate in weekly DBT consultation team meetings to support clinical decision-making and ensure treatment fidelity.
  • Undertake detailed risk assessments, managing risks associated with:
    • Self-harm behaviours
    • Suicidal ideation
    • Complex emotional dysregulation
  • Collaborate with service users, carers, and partner agencies to develop and implement recovery-focused care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records as part of ongoing service evaluation and improvement.
  • Provide specialist consultation and advice to colleagues and mental health services.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, supervision, and mandatory training.
