Diesel Technician – Autonomous Surface Vessels Maintenance

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will maintain, repair, and troubleshoot diesel engines and related systems on our autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on diesel engines, including:
- Oil changes
- Filter replacements
- Fluid checks to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engine malfunctions, mechanical issues, and electrical faults using:
- Diagnostic tools
- Technical manuals
- Troubleshooting techniques.
- Inspect and test:
- Diesel engine components
- Systems and subsystems to identify and address potential problems.
- Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines and associated systems, including:
- Fuel injection systems
- Turbochargers
- Exhaust systems as needed to restore performance and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Maintenance activities
- Parts used
- Labour hours to track equipment history and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and regulatory requirements.
- Follow safety protocols for:
- Handling and disposing of hazardous materials and fluids.
- Collaborate with:
- Maintenance technicians
- Engineers
- Operators to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Marine Diesel and/or Volvo Penta/DOD minerals experience required.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) are required.
- Proven experience as a diesel technician or diesel mechanic, with proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to:
- Read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools:
- Scan tools
- Multimeters
- Oscilloscopes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for mechanical/electrical issues.
- Effective communication and ability to:
- Work independently or in teams.
- Willingness to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to meet business objectives, including:
- Indo-Pacific region and headquarters in Austin, Texas.
- 30+ days mandatory training at Saronic, Austin, Texas.
Preferred
- Recognised vocational qualification or apprenticeship in:
- Diesel mechanics
- Marine engineering
- Related disciplines.

Physical Demands
- Perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Frequently/lift, push, and carry up to 23 kg.
- Work outdoors for long periods in marine/waterside environments.
- Tasks requiring:
- Bending, lifting, reaching
- Climbing ladders/platforms/vessels.
- Exposure to:
- Loud noise
- Vibration
- Engine exhaust
- Hazardous materials (with proper safety protocols).
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear.
