Job Description: Dietary Aide
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services/Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide provides essential support for the setup, preparation, serving, and cleanup of all meal services in the Residence/Home.
Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Maintenance & Operations
- Load, operate, and empty dishwashers; put dishes away
- Maintain cleanliness of cooking areas, including worktables, stoves, ovens, grills, food storage rooms, and exhaust hoods
- Damp mop floors
- Clean kitchen equipment (blenders, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.)
- Perform all duties with cleanliness as a priority

Meal Service & Dining Support
- Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner
- Assist in setting up and preparing meal services (e.g., beverages, salads, desserts)
- Set and clear dining tables; deliver tray service as required
- Help with cleanup of dishware and cutlery post-meal

Additional Duties
- Participate in special occasions, theme events, and catering services
- Assist in training and orientation of new dietary staff
- Comply with health and safety legislation and departmental procedures
- Adhere to provincial regulations and department policies

- Attend in-service training and staff meetings to stay updated

Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification:
- Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate
- Must be enrolled in or hold a Food Service Worker Training Program
- Experience & Skills:
- Preferred: Previous experience in food service and working with seniors
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Strong physical ability (lifting heavy/hot items, standing/walking for extended shifts)
- Proficiency: Proficiency in a second language is an asset
- Safeguarding:
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) within six months, or willing to obtain one
