The Role
The post holder will provide and contribute to the development of the Lanarkshire Weight Management service (LWMS).
To deliver, with minimal supervision, the weight management programmes to individuals and groups of patients across Lanarkshire as designated by the Dietetic Lead and Adult Weight Management Team Lead.
The post holder will work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to coordinated care and shared decision-making. They will support the delivery of group education sessions and digital/remote interventions to enhance service accessibility and patient engagement. This role requires effective communication, organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied caseload. The post holder will contribute to service improvement initiatives and support the implementation of evidence-based pathways aligned with national and local priorities.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 23 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

In This Key Role, You Will
- To act as an independent practitioner assessing, managing, planning, delivering and evaluating the most appropriate treatment programmes for patients, using appropriate nutritional assessment techniques and equipment, working within established protocols. The post holder decides when it is necessary to refer to his/her manager.
- To receive complex and sensitive information and present this in an understandable form to patients and carers which can include giving unwelcome and difficult to accept information.
- Advise and recommend the use of prescribable preparations and nutritional products for the treatment of patients as appropriate. Ensure supplies of products reach his/her patients through instruction to diet chefs verbally and through maintenance of the diet therapy ordering system. Also, be responsible for reporting any stock discrepancies to the dietetic services manager e.g. out of date stock, reduction in stock items or lack of stock items.
- Keep accurate and concise records of clinical interventions, advice given and outcome decisions taken as per professional code of conduct and departmental guidelines.
