About the Role
Amentum is seeking a Digital and Technical Solutions Apprentice to support our digital transformation. This is a broad, hands-on role that offers an individual the exciting opportunity to support digital projects and strategy.
This role would suit someone with a keen interest in new technology, proficiency in a wide range of computing skills such as the use of:
- AI LLMs,
- extended reality (XR) products, and
- who is willing to support various digital-related projects.
The role is based in our Warrington office and will work closely with our Digital Enablement Lead, providing the organisation with the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to:
- improve business processes,
- enhance efficiency, and
- boost customer experiences.
Bridging the gap between adopting new technology and successfully integrating it into daily operations, this role ensures that employees maximise its benefits and the business achieves its goals.

Key Responsibilities
With support, you will:
- Act as a bridge between Engineering/Scientific/Programme Management Office (PMO) and IT teams, improving the digital tools available to support their work.
- Work alongside IT teams during secure, compliant rollouts of new digital tools and technologies.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and software tools, assessing their applicability to the business to enhance efficiency and opportunities.
- Organise business information and ensure accessibility across teams.
- Assist with our AI LLM rollout, including the development of AI agents in collaboration with engineers for task automation.

AI and Large Language Models (LLMs):
- Understanding of LLMs, including ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, or similar.
- Awareness of model differences (e.g., capabilities, biases, response styles, and ethical considerations).
- Knowledge of requirements for local deployment (e.g., hardware, data privacy).

VBA Coding in Excel:
- Proficiency in VBA scripting, debugging, and maintaining scripts for automation.

Unreal Engine, game development, or XR products:
- Familiarity with game development engines or VR/AR setups.

Image Manipulation Software:
- Ability to use Photoshop or other relevant tools.

HTML and CSS Coding:
- Experience building and editing web pages.

To be considered, you must:
- Have achieved a GCSE in Computer Science or equivalent Digital Technology subject at Grade 4+ (Level 8+).
- Hold a minimum of 7 GCSEs grades 4 (C) – 9 (A).

- Have the permanent right to work in the UK.
- Have been ordinarily resident in the UK, British Overseas Territories, or Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands/Isle of Man) for the past three years before starting the apprenticeship and for its duration.
