Digital Caseworker
About akt
akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity. Founded in 1989, we operate service centres in London, Manchester, and Newcastle, and provide support across the UK through our Digital Service. Last year, akt worked with over 1,150 vulnerable young people.
We exist because of a simple but powerful belief: no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are.
Today, young LGBTQ+ people are still at an increased risk of homelessness and are twice as likely to become hidden homeless compared to their peers. akt provides support and roads to safe homes, ensuring young people can thrive.
The Team
The Digital Service team delivers targeted casework across the Southeast, Northwest, East Midlands, East Anglia, and West Midlands. In 2024-2025, 30% of referrals to akt were through the Digital Service, making it our second largest team after London.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
