Arup is seeking a senior Digital Energy Market Lead to accelerate our growth in the UK and strengthen our relationships with senior decision makers across the energy market – particularly in our priority markets: Transmission & Distribution, Molecular Solutions, and Renewables.
The Opportunity
This is a strategic hire for a proven consulting leader who can combine:
- Deep sector insight in the energy domain
- Digital transformation expertise
- Commercial ambition
- Arup’s technical credibility, multidisciplinary reach, and strong values
The role is designed for someone who has already established trusted C-suite and senior executive relationships in the energy sector and now wants the autonomy to:
- Shape and grow a distinctive advisory business
- Go beyond generic transformation consulting
- Build a business backed by world-class engineering, design, digital, and sustainability capability
We are looking for a passionate, technically, and commercially strong leader with:
- Experience as a consultant or in digital advisory practices
- A strong external presence
- Deep understanding of the energy domain and its digital transformation challenges
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead digital advisory service propositions from strategy to delivery, ensuring seamless handover to operations
- Take technical and business leadership in digital energy—a critical area for Arup’s growth
- Serve as a senior member of the Digital Energy Team, expanding capabilities and securing bids for external and internal clients
- Proactively win new repeat business through internal contacts and external networks
- Collaborate with:
- The Global Digital Energy Leader (Simon Evans)
- Arup’s electricity networks business
- Our virtual digital energy community
- Other regional digital energy leaders

Is This Role Right for You?
Core Expectations
You will:
- Have in-depth knowledge of the energy market and digital energy opportunities, helping clients tackle:
- System optimisation
- Project creation and development
- Customer engagement
- Lead digital energy projects in a consulting setting, managing teams and projects across their lifecycle (strategy, design, delivery, and handover)
- Demonstrate a strong perspective on digital, data, and AI maturity across clients
- Engage with industry-leading digital energy agendas (nationally and internationally)
- Stay current with industry trends and share best practices internally
Essential Skills & Knowledge
We require: ✔ Extensive consulting or technology industry experience, with deep knowledge of:
- Data challenges and opportunities
- Digital, AI, and technology strategies
- Change management for digital transformation
✔ Proven record of:
- Business development in digital energy advisory
- Winning and delivering high-quality, tailored solutions
- Building trusted senior-level relationships (especially with CDOs, CIOs, and CxOs)
✔ Active involvement in:
- Global digital energy agendas (e.g., Smart Grids, Flexibility Markets, Digital Twins)
- Vendor relationships (industry-leading solution providers)
