Arup is seeking a Senior Digital Energy Market Lead to accelerate growth in the UK and strengthen relationships with senior decision-makers across the energy market – particularly in their priority markets of Transmission & Distribution, Molecular Solutions, and Renewables.
The Opportunity
This is a strategic hire for a proven consulting leader capable of combining:
- Deep sector insight
- Digital transformation expertise
- Commercial ambition with Arup’s technical credibility, multidisciplinary reach, and strong values
The role is tailored for partners or senior directors from consulting or advisory firms seeking autonomy to shape and expand a distinctive advisory business beyond generic transformation consulting. It will appeal to those who want to leverage world-class engineering, design, digital, and sustainability capabilities.
Arup seeks a technically and commercially strong leader with:
- Previous experience as a consultant or in digital advisory practices
- A strong external presence to drive engagement with senior stakeholders
You will:
- Develop deep understanding of digital energy transformation needs
- Shape service offerings across the project lifecycle: strategy, design, delivery, and operational handover
- Lead projects, bidding processes, workstreams, and client commissions (both external and internal)
- Secure new and repeat business through internal and external networks
You will report to the Global Digital Energy Leader (Simon Evans) and collaborate within Arup’s Digital Services Portfolio, a centre of excellence combining digital, advisory, technology, analytics, and product expertise. This role interacts closely with:
- Electricity networks business
- Virtual digital energy communities
- Regional digital energy leaders

The Challenge
Core Responsibilities
You are expected to have:
- In-depth energy market knowledge
- Proficiency in digital energy opportunities, including:
- Optimising system operation
- Project creation and development
- Customer engagement across the whole-life project cycle
Must Have Experience
- Consulting leadership in digital energy projects
- Team management, combining strategic vision with hands-on delivery
- Actionable expertise in digital, data, and AI applicability at differing maturity levels within client businesses
- Active engagement with national and international digital energy agendas, communities, and trends
Key Mindset
A digital energy evangelist who:
- Identifies, builds, and sustains C-level relationships based on technical trust (especially with Chief Data and Digital Officers)
- Ramps up client conversations from generic transformation to custom-tailored solutions supported by advanced engineering, design, and digital excellence
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Consulting experience: Proven, data-driven, project-oriented background
- Digital energy agility: Deep technical knowledge of data, AI, and technology synergies in energy
- Business development acumen: Skilled at winning and delivering premium advisory services
- Stamp-making relationships: Vertically aligned internal networks and external vendor partnerships (cloud, SaaS, IoT, others)
- Budgetecution responsibility: Experienced in presenting proposals with insights-driven cost framing
