Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Digital Forensic Investigator to undertake the forensic examination and acquisition of digital evidence from telecommunications and computer-based electronic storage devices. Working in accordance with investigator case strategies, ISO/IEC 17025, and the Forensic Science Regulator's Code of Practice (FSR CoP), you will recover, analyse, and report digital evidence from a wide range of devices, including mobile phones, computers, SIM cards, and memory cards.

This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of forensic integrity, evidential continuity, and quality. You will support investigations by delivering accurate forensic examinations and producing high-quality reports suitable for intelligence purposes and presentation within the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Forensic Examinations

  • Conduct forensic examinations of computers, mobile devices, and digital storage media in accordance with investigator instructions.
  • Recover and analyse extant, deleted, and encrypted data using industry-standard forensic methodologies and tools.
  • Deliver examinations within agreed timescales while maintaining evidential integrity throughout the forensic process.
  • Undertake first-stage forensic analysis in support of Senior Investigators.

Reporting & Case Support

  • Produce clear, accurate, and comprehensive intelligence and forensic findings reports.
  • Maintain evidential continuity and ensure documentation is complete and suitable for court proceedings.
  • Provide technical expertise and, where required, present evidence as an expert witness.

Equipment & Quality Management

  • Perform routine maintenance of forensic hardware and equipment.
  • Test and validate forensic acquisition and analysis tools to ensure continued compliance.
  • Adhere to all Digital Forensics quality management systems, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, and the Forensic Science Regulator's Codes of Practice.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and contribute to maintaining accreditation standards.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, or a related discipline, or equivalent recognised professional qualifications.
  • Proven experience conducting forensic computer investigations from forensic imaging through to analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience presenting evidence in Crown Court as an Expert Witness.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, and computer networking principles.
  • Experience using industry-standard digital forensic software and acquisition tools.
  • Experience working within an accredited forensic environment to the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Good understanding of relevant UK legislation relating to digital forensic investigations.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of disclosure requirements, evidential continuity, and court procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, investigators, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates accountability, impartiality, flexibility, and a customer-focused approach.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance for the role and comply with Resillion's security vetting policies and procedures.
