4edge is one of the UK’s leading specialist book manufacturers, producing high-quality books using state-of-the-art digital printing and finishing technology. We work with publishers and print buyers throughout the UK and internationally, continually investing in new technology and automation.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Digital Print Production Manager to lead our toner and inkjet department and drive quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.


The Role

This is a key management position responsible for the day-to-day running of our print production operation.

You will:

  • Lead a team of operators
  • Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining exceptional quality standards
  • Work closely with senior management to improve efficiency across the department

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of the print production department
  • Lead, coach, and develop production staff
  • Ensure production schedules are met safely and efficiently
  • Maintain exceptional print quality and colour consistency
  • Monitor machine performance and minimise downtime
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturers to resolve technical issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are strictly followed
  • Report departmental performance to senior management

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong management and leadership experience within a production environment
  • Deep understanding of industrial inkjet and toner printing technology
  • Proven experience in high-volume digital print production
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop a production team
  • Practical mechanical background with a hands-on, problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer-literate with experience in production systems

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with Canon and Kyocera inkjet presses
  • Experience with Konica Minolta and Canon toner presses
  • Background in book manufacturing
  • Knowledge of digital workflows, colour management, and print quality control
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques
