Digital Project Manager

Digital & Technology Project Manager – National Role

About the Role

The post holder is responsible for leading and managing Digital & Technology projects and the project team on a daily basis. This includes defining objectives and ensuring accurate delivery within agreed timeframes, budgets, and quality constraints.

A key part of the role involves project governance, working with stakeholders, and utilising generation’s PPM tool to ensure transparency, benefit realisation, and appropriate governance. Projects may employ waterfall, agile, or hybrid methodologies, tailored to meet business needs.Projects will use Verto (Agency’s PPM tool) in combination with Jira and Confluence for agile delivery.

    • Digital transformation, data management, Agile delivery, business process design, product management, and cultural change.

Description

The Project Manager will:

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring clarity on objectives and accountability within budgets, timelines, and quality.
  • Manage project governance, stakeholders, and risk assurance to align with Agency policies and PM frameworks.
  • Apply agile/waterfall methodologies to suit project needs, leveraging toolsets (e.g., Verto, Jira, Confluence) for tracking and collaboration.
  • Monitor financial forecasting, budget adherence, and benefit realisation to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across DTG, balancing operational, technical, and business priorities.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience managing full-cycle digital & IT projects across complex frameworks (benefits, governance, risk, and benefits realisation).
  • Ability to set up governance culture, ensuring transparent risk reporting and assurance delivery to senior management/boards.
  • Expertise in financial planning, budget management, and benefit forecasting.

Desirable Qualifications & Certifications

  • Gov.UK (GDS) Technical & Service Standards familiarity.
  • Experience with the Government Project Delivery Standard (sets expectations for portfolio/ programme/project alignment to national frameworks).
  • One or more project management qualifications (mandatory or desired):
    • Prince2 Practitioner (with Agile)
    • Agile project management practitioner
    • APM Practitioner or Registered Project Professional
    • or relevant degree equivalent qualification

Job Offer

Contract: Permanent (Civil Service Contract) Grade: National Grade 7 Salary: £57,028 - £64,672 (pro-rata for part-time). Working Arrangement: Hybrid Office / 3 days per week office attendance. Benefits:

  • Civil Service pension scheme.
  • Range of additional employee benefits (subject to DHSC standard offerings).
