The current digital era is an exciting time to work in archives. National Records of Scotland (NRS) are accepting increasing amounts of archival digital records and we continue to digitise our analogue collections. This brings new challenges and opportunities for public access. We need to grow our digital access capabilities to ensure we can continue to respond to this change. This post will play a key role in this mission.
The Digital Services team, based within the Operational Delivery division of Customer Services, Operations and Archives (CSOA), delivers the processes required to enable online public access to digital records. This post will contribute to all aspects of providing online access to digital records from our archive collection and providing expert support to our wide range of users.

Responsibilities
- Project manage the preparation of digital records (both digital surrogates and born digital) for release online, and process supporting metadata.
- Manage the capture of index data from NRS collections, enabling index-linked digital images for public access.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to developing and testing the Scotland’s People website and other NRS websites.
- Process and respond to user enquiries and investigate any resulting remedial work.
- Contribute to team-based workflows across the Operational Delivery division, ensuring effective communication and shared prioritisation of ongoing issues.
- Support the development of the wider digital archiving function by contributing to strategic projects and initiatives relating to digital access.
- Continue to build expertise in digital access through on-the-job training, peer engagement, and knowledge sharing.
