About the Role
As Water Digital Lead, you will evangelise and drive the digital transformation across the business. We aim to help clients achieve better value and resilience through innovation and cutting-edge technology. We support clients through every stage of the project lifecycle: strategic vision, planning, design, and implementation of solutions, ensuring flood management and a sustainable water supply for thriving communities.
Our water team leads high-impact projects in the UK across regulated and non-regulated clients, including:
- Severn Trent Water
- South West Water
- United Utilities
- Yorkshire Water
- Northumbrian Water
- Northern Ireland Water
- Southern Water
- Environment Agency
We also deliver a diverse range of national, international, and governmental projects, leveraging global knowledge to share cutting-edge best practice and experience.
Reporting to the Head of Profession for Water, you will:
- Develop and implement the digital delivery strategy for our Water business.
- Collaborate with Heads of Discipline, Project Directors, Project Managers, and the Water Technical Leadership Group to drive a robust digital approach.

Responsibilities
- Take ownership of identifying and evaluating emerging digital technologies, including AI, to enhance our service offerings.
- Work with digital leads across UK Business Units to advance capabilities.
- Promote digital skills development across teams, improving services for clients.
- Lead transformation of design delivery, incorporating automation.
- Implement data and geospatial information architecture across systems.
- Provide expertise in data science, including data interpretation, programming, and visualisation.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Computational Engineering Group, BIM Managers, clients, supply-chain partners) to share best practices.
- Stay updated on technology trends, process innovations, and thought leadership for improved image and knowledge sharing.
- Identify, assess, and recommend required hardware/software for the Water discipline.
- Lead ongoing embodiment and consistent use of Common Data Environments, CAD standards, and automated design tools.
- Define processes to meet Employer Information Requirements (EIR) for design integrity.
- Ensure high standards of digital delivery across schemes.
- Support capturing key plans and bids for Water discipline growth.
Key Objectives
- Set the strategy and delivery plan for digital and AI advancement in alignment with UK-wide goals.
- Drive, monitor, and report on progress and improvements of digital initiatives to align with market opportunities.
- Establish a digital delivery structure inside the Water business, developing career paths.
- Influence stakeholders from senior leadership to project teams to engage with digital strategy.
- Understand client needs in emerging digital ecosystems.
- Interface with multi-disciplinary teams, driving value at a project level.

Person Specification
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have a clear understanding of water sector trends and digital advancements in construction.
- Possess leadership and strategic development experience.
- Bring extensive digital project delivery experience and expertise in Level 2 Building Information Modelling (BIM).
- Are proficient in programming languages and data integration tools.
- Can lead teams and manage high workloads while driving cultural and procedural change.
- Have experience in multi-disciplinary design and geospatial/asset modelling—linear pipeline and treatment systems.
- Are familiar with BIM Level 2 environments and ISO19650.
- Demonstrate awareness and proficiency in leading-edge modelling, visualisation, and automation tools.
- Showcase thought leadership in digital transformation through professional involvement.
- Operate with confidence and diplomacy, navigating cultural diversity and change proactively.
