The services within the NDES group include Communications Data Exploitation, Open-Source Exploitation, Digital Media Exploitation including Digital Media Solutions, Lawful Intercept, Technical Innovation and Development, Digital Biometric Exploitation, Digital Operations.
As a digital specialist, you will be involved in providing technical support and expertise to the National Digital Exploitation Service (NDES), designing and creating bespoke software and/or integrating external solutions and scripts to assist in operations and strategic work. This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material daily. Applicants must hold or be prepared to positively engage with the Developed Vetting (DV) process.
Additionally, this material is of sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances, dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, if potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
