About The Role

Digital Services are looking for an individual to join our Digital Application and Product (DAP) team as a Digital Support Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn, develop valuable skills, and gain hands-on experience supporting digital transformation across our borough. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in digital technology and keen to learn.

Our apprenticeships combine working in a great job, with training, development, and a competitive salary. You will be given dedicated time in your working week to focus on your studies. You will also have access to a network of colleagues from within the organisation and tutors to support your learning.

The Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship consists of a 24-month opportunity to learn and to provide support to the DAP: Parking, Environment and Communities team. We are responsible for managing and supporting the core digital systems used across Environment and Climate Change, Homes and Neighbourhoods and Community Wealth Building services, making sure they operate effectively day to day, are set up correctly, and continue to improve through planned projects and system upgrades.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing first-line support for parking systems, handling incidents, and managing user access requests.
  • Helping maintain data quality and system setup across applications, and support testing, documentation, and ongoing improvements to the parking system and its processes.
  • Gaining an understanding of the work of the team and working in a supported learning environment whilst working towards a nationally recognised Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship.

To apply for this apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be aged 16 or above and
  • Be an Islington resident or Islington care leaver or Islington school leaver in the last 12 months

You will also need to satisfy the following course entry requirements:

  • Not already have a qualification at the similar level or above in this apprenticeship subject
  • Not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject.
  • Pass the course entry tests for example in Maths and English

Interview Day: w/c Monday 17th August 2026

Apprenticeship Start Date: September 2026

The Job

Working as a Digital Support Apprentice for the Council you will:

  • Provide first-line technical support and assist users through digital channels.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and document solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with users of varying digital abilities.
  • Use various software to carry duties including Word, Excel and any other software necessary. Training will be provided.

Training and Development

As part of your role you will:

  • Complete a Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship qualification.
  • Study Maths and English if you have not already achieved a GCSE or Level 2 equivalent.
  • Participate in the Councils apprenticeship network and various development activities.
  • Have access to a buddy/mentor.

After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will have gained valuable workplace experience and attained your level 3 qualification. This will improve your chances of finding work within the Council, with other employers or help you move on to a higher-level apprenticeship.

The DAP: Parking, Environment and Communities team has five members who support business-critical applications and oversee the full application lifecycle, from implementation and planned upgrades to the retirement of systems that are no longer needed.
