Digital Trading Manager FTC

Digital Trading Manager (Fixed Term Contract – 12 Months)

We're looking for a passionate Digital Trading Manager to grow online sales across wickes.co.uk, our apps, and digital touchpoints on a 12-month fixed term basis.

You’ll be the expert responsible for executing our trading plan, delivering outstanding web merchandising, and leveraging performance data to drive meaningful growth—particularly in Design & Installation (D&I), flooring, and tiling categories.


Key Responsibilities

1. Leading the Digital Trading Plan

  • Deliver the trading plan for assigned categories across the website and digital ecosystem, coordinating with Commercial colleagues on promotions, range reviews, and new product introductions.

2. Optimising the Online Experience

  • Manage tools and techniques to continuously enhance website performance and drive sales, including:
    • Site search and visual merchandising
    • Product bundling, cross-selling, and social proofing

3. Perfecting the Customer Journey

  • Monitor customer paths using analytics to identify and resolve friction points, ensuring a seamless experience.

4. Building Strong Stakeholder Relationships

  • Foster collaboration with Buying and Planning teams (Commercial colleagues) by sharing performance data, insights, and growth strategies.

5. Delivering Actionable Insights

  • Work closely with Commercial teams to identify key eCommerce drivers, focusing on critical KPIs such as:
    • Inbound Traffic
    • Conversion Rate
    • Path to purchase
  • Provide clear, strategic recommendations for interventions and testing.

6. Managing and Developing Talent

  • Manage one direct report, providing mentorship, growth opportunities, and ensuring alignment with team objectives.

Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • 6+ years ofDigital Trading experience in eCommerce and website trading.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of:
    • Product discovery and visual merchandising
    • Key eCommerce KPIs (traffic, conversion, ATV, path to purchase)
    • Tools like Google Analytics / GA4, Contentsquare, Google Looker Studio
    • CMS systems and specialist Product Discovery, Social Proofing, and Bundling platforms (e.g., Bloomreach, Taggstar, Increasingly)

Skills & Attributes

  • Data-driven and strategic: Use insights to propose impactful growth actions.
  • Collaborative and leadership-focused: Thrives in cross-functional teams without micromanagement.
  • Confident self-starter: Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ideally, curiosity and experience in AI tools for productivity and site optimisation.
