What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions that enable Vodafone's digital transformation, network automation, and operational excellence objectives.
- This role is accountable for the Automation lifecycle of production-grade software and services, delivering scalable, resilient, and secure solutions that support operational automation, event-driven workflows, network intelligence, and service assurance capabilities.
- The Digital Transformation Technical Authority will own technical decisions and will work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through to deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
- The role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, DevOps practices, secure-by-design principles, and operational reliability requirements.
- Working collaboratively with engineers, architects, product owners, operational teams, and stakeholders, the Digital Transformation Technical Authority will develop innovative software solutions that drive increased automation, improved operational performance, and reduced manual intervention across Vodafone's network operations landscape.
Please note that the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for access to certain customer environments and systems.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications, services, APIs, and automation workflows
- Build high-quality, reusable, maintainable, and scalable code following engineering best practices
- Develop event-driven and API-enabled solutions supporting network and operational automation
- Develop orchestration workflows, automation scripts, and integrations across multiple systems
- Produce technical documentation, design artefacts, and implementation guidance
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices
- Participate in code reviews, testing, defect management, and release activities
- Contribute to engineering standards, software quality assurance, and secure development practices
- Drive continuous improvement in software delivery processes and platform reliability
- Identify opportunities to automate manual operational tasks and improve process efficiency
- Support training and overviews to operational staff and senior leadership stakeholders
- Support out-of-hours activities where required to maintain critical production services

Who You Are
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and software development lifecycle knowledge
- Advanced Python development skills, other languages desirable
- Experience with API development, integration, and automation frameworks
- Knowledge of SQL and database technologies
- Experience working with cloud, automation, orchestration, or platform engineering solutions
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, microservices, and modern software design principles
- Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD,
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, manage stakeholders, and deliver measurable business outcomes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Innovative mindset with a passion for automation and continuous improvement
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Software Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Automation Engineering environment
- Demonstrable experience developing production-grade software solutions
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
- Experience using Git-based source control and release management processes
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within cross-functional teams

- Yearly bonus: 10%
- Annual leave: 28 days + bank holidays + the opportunity to buy/sell/carry over 5 days/year

- Maternity leave: 52 weeks: the first 13 weeks are fully paid, followed by 26 weeks of half pay
