The Associate will be based at Welshpool, SY21 8SL and will manage and deliver an Innovate UK-awarded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) and CastAlum Ltd. The project focuses on Interconnected Foundry, aligned with Industry 4.0, enabling the development of bespoke modules within CastNet, a web-based Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This system will:
- Capture and store data via sensors from the foundry
- Support AI-driven decision support for manufacturing improvements, including:
- Predictive Maintenance
- Energy and Wastewater usage optimisation
This role is part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) initiative, funded by Innovate UK, supporting businesses to enhance competitiveness through better use of knowledge and skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with WMG and the project supervisor at CastAlum Ltd as part of a dynamic engineering team. Key activities include:
- Embedding new knowledge within the company via:
- Training
- Paired working
- Creation of technical documentation
- Receiving specialised technical and supervisory support from WMG to ensure CastAlum Ltd becomes an industry leader in world-class research-driven analysis.
About You
The Associate will bring specialist knowledge in Digital Maturity Assessments and:
- Assess CastAlum’s current digital maturity, using standards such as ISO 23247
- Facilitate productivity improvements via:
- Sensor and equipment selection for data capture
- Building a robust data architecture
- Design of data pipelines for analysis
- Implementation of business intelligence and visualisation tools
- Work closely with the Innovation & Systems team, production staff, and senior management to:
- Analyse and improve sexual maturity/technical capabilities
- Enhance the CastNet system for:
- AI-driven decision support for:
- Energy and Wastewater management
- Predictive maintenance for machining and tool repair
- AI-driven decision support for:
