The National Army Museum is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its next Director.
As the national museum for the Army and its soldiers, the Museum collects, preserves and shares stories that help people understand the Army’s role in shaping society, both past and present. Through galleries, exhibitions, collections, learning programmes and digital engagement, the Museum connects audiences with centuries of military history and the experiences of those who have served.
This is an opportunity to lead a respected national institution at an important point in its development. The Museum is embarking on a significant partnership with the Lord Ashcroft Medal Collection, which will create a home for the world's largest collection of Victoria Crosses and George Crosses. It is also exploring future opportunities to expand its site and public offer, strengthening its role within the Chelsea cultural landscape.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chair and Council, the Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the Museum. As Accounting Officer, the postholder will be responsible for governance, financial stewardship and organisational performance, while ensuring the Museum continues to fulfil its public purpose and charitable objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
