Senior Director, Gartner Human Resources Practice – Talent Acquisition Insights (a Consulting Role)
About the Role
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have insights, market predictions, and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. As a Director within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights (BTI) group, you’ll establish yourself as a credible voice in the talent acquisition space—at local, regional, and global levels. Using exceptional research and analytical skills, you’ll deliver pragmatic yet provocative insights that clients rely on to drive their business strategies forward.
This individual contributor role focuses on **specializing in Gartner’s Talent Acquisition (TA) Practice, offering strategic advice to Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs) and HR leaders on HR TA strategy, initiatives, and investments. Directors are expected to deliver flexibility, covering a broad range of actionable insights while honing deep expertise where it matters most.
What You Will Do
You will be responsible for delivering high-impact, original research aimed at empowering HR professionals to make informed TA decisions:

Create clear, actionable Research
- Develop must-have insights focused on talent acquisition, including:
- Recruiting functional strategy (functional management, SLA negotiation, and talent acquisition metrics)
- Recruiting operations (RPO, end-to-end recruiting lifecycle workflows)
- Technologies (ATS, CRM sourcing tools)
- Labor market insights (supply trends, skills gaps)
- Candidate experience & workplace & inclusion, equity, diversity, and belonging (IE&B)-driven recruitment
- Develop must-have insights focused on talent acquisition, including:

Translate Complex TA Needs into Strategic Solutions
- Conduct in-depth analysis to identify root causes of client challenges (e.g., ineffective sourcing, poor candidate experience).
- Offer reframed strategic thinking to drive both operational and large-scale business decision-making.
- Develop provocative, independent insights that shape Gartner’s research agenda & thought leadership.

Demonstrate Industry Leadership
- Establish and maintain positions on key TA insights within your analyst team & across Gartner.
- Elevate research methodology and forecast market shifts to shape client & vendor decision-making.

Engage with clients & stakeholders
- Provide direct client interaction, including:
- Virtual and face-to-face consultations on pressing TA challenges.
- Executive-level recommendations for recruiting structures, processes, metrics, and tech investments.
- Present at Gartner events, industry conferences, and client briefings.
- Collaborate with Gartner’s Sales & Insights teams to align content delivery with client needs.
- Act as voice of the market, influencing how Gartner’s Insights teams create research to drive client engagement.

- Analyze data rigorously to formulate actionable conclusions for complex TA challenges.
- Peer-review high-quality content delivered by junior analysts.
- Mentor and coach rising analysts in research methodology and presentation skills.

- Identify opportunities for change in Gartner’s research processes to deliver faster, higher-quality insights.
- Enforce Gartner’s research methodology and insights across internal and external stakeholders.

Be Client-Centric & Collaborative
- Deliver actionable insights consistently to create client demand for Gartner’s research & networking.
- Engage in cross-functional teams to optimize delivery of mergers & acquisitions (M&A) transactions and stakeholder value.
What You Will Need
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate a mix of leadership, analytical expertise, and executive communication in talent acquisition (TA):
Knowledge & Competencies
- 10+ years of high-level TA experience including 10+ years in strategic planning and implementation of recruiting processes.
- Deep expertise in:
- Recruiting strategy (functional management, SLAs, performance metrics)
- Talent acquisition lifecycle (candidate sourcing, assessment, selection, onboarding)
- Technology (ATS, staffing platforms, AI-driven recruitment)
- Emerging trends in IA*, diversity/equity/inclusion (IE&B), market data, candidate experiences, AI capabilities, and internal advocacy
- 10+ years of recent practitioner experience (including a working knowledge of ATS, CRM or staffing tools)
- Unmatched industry & executive presence to directly advise CHROs and their peers.
- Strong presentational skills at scale (speaking, writing, executive summaries).
- Agile mindset, capable of:
- Working independently under tightdeadlines
- Synthesizing data-driven patterns from structured/unstructured inputs.
- Highly organized, with strong industry-wide networking skills to build alliances across HR departments.
Professional Agility & Adaptability
- Proven track record in recommending multi-dimensional solutions to client pain points (engagement metrics, talent procurement).
- Awareness of and experience sharing insights via all touchpoints (in-person, virtual, written research).
