Director, Applied AI Transformation – Energy & Utilities
About the Role
We’re seeking a Director, Applied AI Transformation – Energy & Utilities to lead enterprise-scale AI and agentic transformation across global energy and utilities clients. You’ll work from multiple European locations in a hybrid or remote working mode, acting as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives to drive impactful AI adoption, all while navigating a complex, highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute applied AI and agentic transformation strategies for clients in energy and utilities
- Serve as a strategic advisor to C-suite executives on AI adoption and digital transformation
- Monitor market trends and evangelise EPAM’s leadership in applied AI for the energy sector
Client & Business Engagement
- Lead account-facing presales activities, including shaping opportunities and building compelling business cases
- Facilitate workshops to co-create actionable AI use cases aligned with client objectives
- Drive enterprise AI adoption by identifying high-impact scenarios and managing change initiatives

Technical & Delivery Expertise
- Lead cross-functional teams delivering AI and agentic solutions from concept to production
- Maintain hands-on expertise with large language models, multi-agent platforms, and AI ecosystems across major labs and hyperscalers
- Champion enterprise-scale solutions, ensuring scalability, compliance, and security standards
Team Growth & Collaboration
- Build and mentor EPAM and client teams to scale applied AI delivery capabilities
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- 10+ years in energy and utilities, including leading transformation or large-scale technology programs
- Deep understanding of energy sector regulations, HSE requirements, and operational processes across trading, generation, grid, and asset management
- Proven ability to advise senior executives on AI adoption and innovation strategies
- Applied expertise with:
- Large language models
- Multi-agent systems
- RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) frameworks
- Familiarity with:
- Leading AI labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft AI)
- Hyperscaler platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong ai presales experience in shaping engagements
- End-to-end leadership of cross-functional, global teams

Education & Certifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business; MBA preferred
- Relevant professional certifications (if applicable)
Soft Skills & Compliance

- Willingness to travel as required
