The Opportunity The Director of Commercial Communications plays a critical role in shaping the communication strategies that support the commercial business. This role requires a strategic approach to managing complex projects, developing innovative solutions, and ensuring the achievement of business objectives through leadership and communication expertise. The Director of Commercial Communications is responsible for communications strategy, planning and executing in support of executive, sales, colleague and change communications for Dechra across our European and International commercial division. The position requires strategic thinking, advanced project management skills, and the ability to lead complex projects, drive leadership communications, and engage a large remote workforce. A critical part of this role includes the development of strategic communications plans to achieve business objectives and ensuring alignment with all channels. The incumbent will make decisions that resolve complex problems, often operating independently in ambiguous situations, while being a resource for others in the team. This role will independently lead and manage commercial communications for the European and International commercial business focusing primarily on executive and senior leader communications and will be responsible for building Dechra's regional external reputation through leadership, industry event participation, and social channels. This position will also be empowered to shape and drive leadership communications, working autonomously and cross-functionally to address critical business priorities and proactively influence communication strategies. Role Responsibility
So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including: Develop, execute, and maintain communications plans for organizational communications, commercial leadership, colleague engagement, and customer activation opportunities for the commercial business. This includes: Leading both internal and external strategic communications planning for the EU/International business activities including commercial product launches, organizational announcements, culture initiatives, etc. Supporting the President and EU/International Leadership Team by developing and managing content that drives colleague culture, leadership engagement, and customer outreach. Project leadership and complex problem solving: Lead and manage multiple, high-impact communication initiatives simultaneously. This includes developing innovative strategies that meet the organization's objectives, applying advanced knowledge of communication principles, and leveraging expertise to ensure the success of communication projects. You will operate independently in ambiguous situations, making decisions that directly affect the organization. Lead executive and senior leader communication activities to support major meetings and conventions, ensuring that communication materials are effectively designed and strategically aligned with business objectives. Commercial colleague engagement strategies: Develop and enhance commercial colleague engagement strategies, including Town Halls, recognition programs, and community impact initiatives, to foster an inclusive and productive work environment for our field and sales colleagues. Decision-making and influence: Make key decisions in situations requiring the development of innovative options to resolve complex challenges. You will apply skills and knowledge that enable the business unit to meet its goals, ensuring that your decisions positively impact the overall business performance. KPI development and reporting: Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring routine reporting to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

The Candidate

For this role, we're particularly keen to hear from those who have/are: Animal health, pharmaceutical, or commercial sales team experience Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or similar field At least 10 years of professional experience with 5 years writing experience in corporate or commercial communications. Experience in remote colleague engagement and internal communications is a must. Experience in the planning, development and execution of corporate and organizational communications Demonstrated skills in developing, managing, and delivering internal and external communication strategies. Strong commercial business acumen with excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively across functions and levels. Ability to synthesize complex and technical information and convert it into clear and concise messages that customers and colleagues can understand. Experience with communication production including digital, presentations, events, video. Able to work to tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and maintain professionalism under pressure. A drive for results and ability to achieve results through cross-functional teams, leveraging organization resources and exerting influence without direct authority. Self-starter, able to work independently. Strong analytical, planning, attention to detail and prioritizing skills Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with confidence with various levels and functions. Partner and agency relationship management experience
