Senior Trader, Base & Precious Metals – UK

About the Role
Join a purpose-driven winning team, committed to results within an inclusive and high-performing culture. This is an opportunity to play a senior role in the continued success and growth of the Commodity Derivatives team, with a special focus on Base and Precious Metals trading in the UK.
The responsible role demands excellence in market judgement, disciplined risk management, and collaborative execution. Your objective will be to:
- Deliver sustainable revenues for the business.
- Support and advance the trading franchise.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Success here will be driven by: ✔ Clearly defined goals ✔ Strong partnership and collaboration ✔ Thoughtful execution of initiatives that align with business strategies ✔ Ensuring compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures
Critical Note: This role has been identified as a Material Risk Taker (MRT) and falls under the HM Treasury PRA/FCA Certification Regime. Successful candidates must be internally certified as performing a significant harm function.
Key Accountabilities

- Provide senior oversight of the Base and Precious Metals trading book, exercising strong judgement and accountability to manage associated risks effectively.

- Collaborate with Corporate and Investment Banking Relationship Managers, aligning with Global Banking and Markets (GBM) to:
- Expand the client base
- Cross-sell broader Bank capabilities, including:
- Supporting approvals for hedging facilities
- Representing the Bank in stakeholder presentations

Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Professional Background
- Undergraduate degree required, preferably in STEM, Finance, Economics, or Business. A relevant Postgraduate degree or CFA designation is an asset.

Core Expertise & Experience
- Demonstrable competence in Base and Precious Metals derivatives trading.
- Deep understanding of financial markets with the ability to apply expertise in a fast-moving, high-pressure trading environment.
- High-level knowledge of:
- Bloomberg Terminal and other trading tools
- Current trading protocols
- Booking systems
- Strong reputation for honesty, sound judgement, and deep commitment to compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of margin calls, risk requirements, and complex financial structuring.
