Position Overview
Provide general commercial legal advice and contracting support across Europe to various functions/sales teams/country managers on diverse topics including commercial contracts, procurement processes, and product liability issues for a medical device company. This role can be based in London or Munich.
Responsibilities
- Provide proactive legal and business counselling on a broad range of topics, including general commercial law, contract interpretation, and corporate governance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate all forms of legal agreements with customers, vendors, and partners. Examples include sales contracts, supply agreements, services agreements, distribution agreements, clinical trial agreements, etc.
- Provide legal support establishing and documenting sales and marketing programs, terms and conditions of sale or purchase, third-party sales agreements, procurement processes, and distribution agreements.
- Provide practical legal guidance and training on a wide range of issues facing a medical device business.
- Manage outside counsel engagements, including budgets and fees.
- Proactively identify legal risks affecting the company, and collaborate with senior management to mitigate risks while helping grow the business.
- Follow and advise on major developments in laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Law Degree and Member of a European Bar, preferably a German legal qualification.
- 7-10 years in a large or significant firm and/or corporate setting as a legal business partner with a transactional focus.
- Experience with complex commercial and corporate transactions and general corporate law, previous in-house experience with medical device or other life science company an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage legal risks for complex strategic transactions.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to prioritize assignments while working on various projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to do a variety of tasks.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with leaders of other functional areas within and across the business.
- Outgoing, comfortable interacting with diverse cultures and across a multitude of cultures and levels of an international corporation.
- Ability to take a lead position regarding legal matters. A positive and team-oriented attitude with flexibility.
- Fluent English and German, other European languages a plus, specifically French or Dutch.
- Strong IT skills – PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel.

Employment Lawyer
Insulet Corporation, maker of the OmniPod, is the world leader of wearable tubeless insulin pumps improving and simplifying the lives of diabetes patients. We are seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to provide legal counsel on a wide range of employment-related matters. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in UK employment law and support teams across Europe by partnering with local HR and managing outside counsel. This role combines strategic advisory work with hands-on problem-solving, offering practical, business-oriented guidance to HR professionals and business leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general employment law advice on the full range of employment issues faced by an international business, including but not limited to contractual arrangements, employment-related laws and regulations, HR policies, restrictive covenants, employment litigation matters, recruitment, redundancies, and exits.
- Support European HR teams by coordinating with and managing outside counsel in various jurisdictions.
- Monitor, advise on, and ensure compliance with UK and European employment laws and regulations, including upcoming changes such as the Employment Right Bill in the UK.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, policies, and related documentation.
- Advise on employee relations issues including internal investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, and performance management.
- Collaborate with HR and business stakeholders to develop and implement compliant policies and procedures.
- Deliver training sessions on employment law and HR best practices.
- Manage external counsel where necessary in employment-related disputes, audits, and investigations.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor with a valid license to practice law in the UK.
- Post-qualification employment law experience, ideally with both in-house and law firm experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience supporting European jurisdictions - preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
- Experience managing external counsel and multi-jurisdictional matters.
