Director, Financial Services

The Role: Director, Capital Markets
Factor seeks an experienced Director, Capital Markets professional to drive strategic legal and operational solutions for financial services clients. This role bridges law, business, operations, and technology, partnering with:
- Investment banks
- Asset managers
- Private credit funds
- Other financial institutions
The ideal candidate will:
- Oversee high-value engagements, identifying efficiency improvements via process optimisation, legal engineering, AI, and alternative legal models
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on regulatory change, documentation, and transaction lifecycle management
Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Relationship Management
- Serve as the senior point of contact for financial services clients across capital markets
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with:
- General Counsel
- Heads of Legal
- Business stakeholders
- Operations leaders
- Align solutions with client objectives and explore growth opportunities

- Lead multidisciplinary teams encompassing:
- Lawyers
- Legal analysts
- Project managers
- Legal engineers
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Strategic Consulting & Transformation
- Advise on legal operating model transformation
- Redesign processes for efficiency and scalability
- Implement change management programs
- Leverage technology, automation, and AI for legal service delivery
Innovation & Legal Technology
- Collaborate with Legal Engineering and Technology teams to explore automation
- Drive AI-enabled solutions within legal and compliance functions
- Ensure adoption of data-driven legal approaches
- Stay updated on trends in:
- Financial regulation
- Legal technology
- Capital markets

Commercial & Business Development
- Support proposals, pitches, and presentations
- Generate revenue growth through client relationship expansion
- Develop thought leadership and market insights in capital markets
- Represent Factor at industry events and client meetings
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline
- 10+ years’ experience in:
- Investment banking legal functions
- Capital markets law firms
- Alternative Legal Service Providers (ALSPs)
- Financial services consulting
- In-house legal teams in financial institutions
- Deep understanding of:
- Capital markets products
- Documentation
- Client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Leadership and people management capabilities
- Project and transformation initiative experience
Preferred
- Qualified lawyer (UK, US, Ireland, or common law jurisdiction)
- Experience in an ALSP, Big Four consulting firm, or legal transformation environment
- Exposure to:
- Legal technology
- AI
- Process automation
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks for global financial institutions
