Director – KOL Engagement and Field Medical Excellence
Job Summary
Reporting to the VP Global Medical Affairs (US & International), the Director will serve as a leading figure in Medical Affairs, providing strategic medical leadership to elevate KOL Engagement and Field Medical Excellence. This role ensures the adoption of industry best practices for advanced stakeholder engagement, fosters joint-value creation, and builds a systematic approach for the global Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) teams.
Insulet’s Mission Insulet’s mission is to simplify the lives of people living with diabetes through the development and commercialisation of advanced diabetes technology, including the Omnipod 5 system—and beyond.
As a visionary leader, you will co-shape Insulet’s approach to excellence in KOL engagement and field medical operations, collaborating with global, regional, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities

Develop and drive a KOL Excellence Framework, aligning US and international Medical Affairs with regional and national teams, and cross-functional groups.
- KOL Strategy
- KOL Mapping
- KOL Engagement Planning
- KOL Performance Tracking & Reporting (e.g., CRM platforms)

Mature and implement a best-in-class Field Medical Operating Model, working with global health advisory board partners and International Medical Affairs teams.

Lead strategic insights reporting from MSL (Medical Scientific Liaison) field teams to guide global enterprise decision-making, contributing to our Global Advisory Board Framework.

Develop and execute a forward-thinking competency model for Medical Affairs in both US and International markets, and design team development pathways.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in KOL Engagement, Field Medical Excellence, or related Medical Affairs functions within medical devices/pharma.
- Evidence of capability building, competency development & training expertise.
- Regional/global leadership experience observed.
- Preference given to those with cross-functional MSL (Medical Scientific Liaisons) team leadership.
Preferred Technical Competencies:
- Experience with CRM systems or related platforms.

Physical Requirements
- Remote or Hybrid Work Location (predominantly US-based or EMEA countries where Insulet has legal presence)
- Estimated 20% travel requirement for client and external engagements
