Director, Learning Content – Global Investment Education

Location London, UK or New York (preferred), with Charlottesville, VA or select US East Coast locations (GA, FL, NC) also considered.


About the Role

Are you motivated by transforming real-world investment practice into effective, skills-based learning that prepares professionals for success?

The Director, Learning Content is a Director-level individual contributor within the Learning Content function at CFA Institute. This role shapes global investment education, ensuring content accurately reflects professional investment practice across the CFA Program, certificates, private markets, and sustainability-related offerings.

Key focus areas: ✔ Investment credibility – Ensuring content is accurate, rigorous, and aligned with industry standards ✔ Content judgement & translation – Converting complex investment concepts into learner-centric materials ✔ Cross-functionality – Collaborating with learning design, assessment, product management, and subject matter experts ✔ Scalability – Developing content that meets global demand while maintaining quality and relevance

Sustainability exposure is valuable, but this is not a sustainability-only role. The priority is on investment credibility, stakeholder collaboration, and high-impact content development.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead content design & development Lead the creation, review, and maintenance of high-quality, learner-centric content for all CFA Institute education products.

  • Bridge theory & practice Translate complex, real-world investment knowledge into clear learning journeys, study tools, and assessment-quality materials that build practical skills.

  • Collaborate across teams Work closely with:

    • Learning design & assessment teams to shape effective learning experiences
    • Product management & marketing to align content with market needs
    • External authors, reviewers, practitioners, and consultants to set standards and provide feedback

  • Ensure curriculum alignment Contribute to:

    • Curriculum development based on practice analysis
    • Learning outcomes & professional standards
    • Advisory input to keep content market-relevant
  • Support diverse content areas Manage content across:

    • CFA Program & professional credentials
    • Sustainability, ESG, and responsible investment
    • Private markets
    • Emerging topics (e.g., AI, data tools, emerging markets)
  • Maintain quality & timelines

    • Accuracy, rigor, and accessibility for a global audience
    • Timely delivery of content aligned with prioritised deadlines

What We’re Looking For

Core requirements:

  • Deep investment expertise in:

    • Investment management
    • Financial services
    • Professional finance education
  • Proven content development experience

    • Publishing, reviewing, or designing: Professional, university-level, client-facing, or internal learning materials
    • Finance-related disciplines preferred
  • Passion for learning & education

    • Interest in how adults learn and how to simplify complex investment knowledge
  • Stakeholder & project management

    • Ability to:
      • Build trust with global teams
      • Navigate iterative review cycles
      • Deliver work under multiple priorities
  • Exceptional communication

    • Clear, concise, and engaging written and verbal delivery
    • Ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences

Strongly preferred:

  • CFA Charterholder (CFA Institute strongly prefers this; equivalent industry credibility and learning content experience will also be considered)

Other highly valued:

  • Sustainability/Emkdir collaboration or private markets experience
  • Background in learning design, assessments, or credentialing
  • Technical fluency with finance tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python, SQL, FactSet, Bloomberg)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • London, UK: £90,000 – £110,000 per year
  • New York: $155,000 – $195,000 per year
  • US East Coast (VA, GA, FL, NC): $125,000 – $165,000 per year
  • Annual discretionary bonus
  • 12% employer contribution to 401(k) or pension plan
  • Comprehensive health benefits & wellbeing programs

(Education, experience, and skills will determine final salary within these ranges.)
