Position Overview
We are looking for a strategic and commercially driven Director to lead and grow a high-performing team within Hanover.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for:
- Driving sustained growth
- Delivering impactful client solutions
- Positioning Hanover as a leader in the communications industry
The role operates across teams, markets, and service areas, ensuring an integrated and forward-thinking approach to client delivery and business development.
Responsibilities
Key Duties
- Provide inspirational leadership aligned with Hanover’s mission, vision, and values, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
- Play a critical role in expanding the client base, growing revenue, and identifying new business opportunities, while maintaining the highest standards of client service.
- Lead key client relationships at a senior level, providing strategic counsel and overseeing the development of high-quality communications strategies.
- Ensure successful delivery across accounts while staying attuned to media, digital, and communications trends.
- Focus on team leadership and talent development, keeping the team motivated, high-performing, and capable of delivering best-in-class work.
- Contribute to Hanover’s wider business strategy, collaborating across teams and geographies.
- Maintain a strong focus on productivity and billability, allocating time efficiently across client work and contributing directly to revenue targets.
- Support wider team performance in achieving productivity and profitability goals.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and manage senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex client issues.
- Design, sell, and oversee the delivery of high-quality communications strategies informed by insight and expertise.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the success, performance, and growth of key client accounts.
- Oversee and manage the team’s new business pipeline, setting the strategic direction and driving delivery against targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities, including organic growth within existing accounts and new client acquisition.
- Build and maintain a strong external network to generate business opportunities and enhance Hanover’s market profile.
- Provide inspirational leadership, promoting Hanover’s values and fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
- Collaborate across Hanover teams and international offices to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Ensure the highest standards of quality across all client deliverables through rigorous review and oversight.
- Lead the financial management of the team, including:
- Budgeting
- Forecasting
- Revenue tracking
- Profitability review
Requirements
Applicants should possess the following:
Key Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in communications, with a strong track record in a senior leadership role, ideally within an agency environment.
- Proven ability to lead and grow client accounts, delivering strategic counsel and high-quality service.
- Demonstrated success in driving new business, including:
- Developing pipelines
- Converting opportunities
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing:
- Budgets
- Forecasting
- Revenue growth
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, including experience in:
- Developing and mentoring senior team members
- Deep understanding of the communications, media, and digital landscape, capable of translating trends into client value.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering excellence in all client outputs.
- Collaborative mindset, with experience working across:
- Teams
- Disciplines
- Geographies
- Proactive, driven, and solutions-oriented approach, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
