I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Guiding Philosophy
What you won’t be doing: ✖ Designing targeted curriculum revisions without systemic impact. ✖ Developing disconnects between classroom practice and measurable outcomes. ✖ Shielding managers from performance accountability; you will own results. ✖ Relying on institutional legacy or abstract theories to persuade stakeholders.

To qualify, you must:
🔹 Hold an advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Learning Science, Psychology of Education, Instructional Technology, or a discipline with clear educational engineering applications. 🔹 Demonstrate 7+ years in academic leadership roles—with hands-on responsibility for hiring, performance evaluations, one-on-one coaching, and talent termination decisions. 🔹 Track record of student impact in reading intervention, numeracy, or foundational content mastery—evidenced by policy change or observed uptake of evidence-based methods. 🔹 Practical experience integrating AI/emerging tech (e.g., adaptive tutoring, AI agent design, deep-personalization) into student outcomes. 🔹 Managed 50+ staff members accountable for executing higher education pathways, assessments, or curriculum implementation. 🔹 Experience interacting directly with teachers, students, or ministry officials—preferably in outcomes-oriented environments.
