About the Role

The Director of International Accounting will join the Global Accounting Leadership Team and be tasked with helping to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental financial and tax regulation and comply with IFRS and statutory reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with the SVP of Accounting and also manage the Western European Accounting team. Additionally, the Director of International Accounting will deliver continuous improvements to accounting processes and procedures. The role sits in the International head office in London and is a key contact for finance teams across the globe.

The ideal candidate is someone that can:

  • Account and report on all operational costs & associated balance sheet accounts of Mood International.
  • Partner with external stakeholders, auditors & tax advisors.
  • Drive process improvement across the accounting function.
  • Manage a high performing team and serve as a mentor to junior members.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

  • Responsible for the month end close process on a timely basis.
  • Trended analysis of operational & non-operational costs highlighting any cost control issues to management.
  • Review of key balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, prepayments, fixed assets etc).
  • Ownership and monthly review of judgemental balance sheet provisions.
  • Responsible for head office reporting and transfer pricing charges to the wider group.

Statutory Reporting & Tax

  • Responsible for the filing of statutory financial statements of the European business units.
  • Partnering with external financial advisors on the preparation of financial statements.
  • Annual review of impairment of investments.
  • Main point of contact for auditors and project managing local statutory audits.
  • Partnering with external tax advisors on the timely submission on sales tax & corporation tax returns.

Process Improvement

  • Partnering with the Director of International finance with reducing the month end close timetable.
  • Support with the roll-out of a new consolidation system.
  • Improving existing processes and controls within the accounting team.

People

  • Manage a team of 3 direct reports and a team of 10 in total.
  • Responsible for the development and career progression of junior members of the team.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Extensive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 10 years in a leadership capacity
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and expertise in financial reporting, IFRS and local statutory reporting
  • Proven experience managing accounting teams and overseeing financial operations across multiple regions
  • A 'lead by example' individual who can develop a team via coaching and development and successfully work cross functionally with other leaders of the business
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Media sector experience - desirable
  • Experience in Oracle ERP – desirable
