To help us realise this vision, we are seeking an exceptional Director of Adults Commissioning and Provider Services—an individual who brings strategic clarity, deep professional credibility, and the confidence to lead change at scale.

This is a role for a leader who sees the bigger picture and understands how to turn it into meaningful, measurable impact. You will guide the commissioning of high-quality, value-for-money services that enable people to live well, independently, and with dignity. Your leadership will influence the full commissioning cycle, from understanding local needs and shaping the market, to ensuring that services are safe, sustainable, and aligned with the aspirations of our residents. You will also oversee our in-house provider services, ensuring they operate to the highest standards and continue to evolve in line with national expectations and local priorities.

Working at the heart of a collaborative and ambitious Directorate Management Team, you will help drive Trafford’s Improving Lives Everyday programme, ensuring that transformation is not just a concept but a lived reality for our workforce, partners, and communities. You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, the NHS, the Integrated Care Board, and the voluntary, community, and faith sectors, building strong partnerships that unlock innovation and strengthen the local care market. Your influence will extend across the system, shaping integrated approaches that deliver better outcomes and a more resilient, responsive offer for adults in Trafford.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
