Spire Claremont Hospital, Sheffield, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Clinical Services to lead and develop all clinical service areas across the hospital. This role involves:
- Maintaining oversight of a senior team of clinical department leads
- Guiding the hospital’s ongoing development and expansion of clinical services
Responsibilities
- Primarily based Monday–Friday (core hours 9–5), with flexibility to meet operational needs
- Participate in the Senior Management on-call system
- Prioritise clinical governance, patient safety, and satisfaction daily
- Collaborate with the Governance Manager and Heads of Department for CQC compliance
- Ensure robust infection prevention control measures across the hospital
- Lead quality improvement initiatives
- Develop and implement the hospital’s clinical strategy and contribute to the business strategy
- Deliver a cost-effective, patient-focused service for quality healthcare delivery
- Balance clinical excellence with financial performance
- Drive commercial growth by expanding new business and innovations

Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse (or equivalent) with a valid NMC/HPC registration (unrestricted)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a senior clinical team (NHS/private sector)
- Strong hands-on clinical knowledge — ideally with surgical ward experience
- Proven leadership skills to maintain high clinical capability
- Ability to perform clinical duties as required
- Essential: deep understanding of clinical governance
- Innovative thinker with a dynamic and enthusiastic approach
- Mentorship/teaching qualification completed
- Management qualification considered advantageous, but not essential
