Director of Clinical Services (DoCS) – Registered Mental Health Nurse

Deadline: 12 July 2026 Department: Senior Management and Leadership Location: Priory Hospital Norwich Compensation: £56,000 – £58,000 per year (dependent on experience)

About the Role

Full-time | 37.5 hours per week | Site-based

[NMC-registered mental health nurse] with 5 years of experience required. Newly qualified nurses and preceptorship nurses do not meet the criteria.

Priory Hospital Norwich provides 24/7 mental health inpatient care for male and female patients across wards of varying acuity. Referrals are accepted from across the UK, with a focus on supporting the NHS by delivering tailored care for medium to high-risk patients. The hospital also offers:

  • Acute and PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) services – Helping treat patients closer to home and supporting repatriation of out-of-area NHS patients
  • 24/7 drug and alcohol rapid response/detox service

Note: While access to a vehicle is recommended, public transport links are available (local bus services).

The Director of Clinical Services (DoCS) Role

Core Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Hospital Director, the DoCS oversees the clinical services operation, including:
    • Nursing
    • Therapies
  • Ensures highest standards of patient care are delivered consistently.

Requirements

Essential

✔ Active NMC registration (Nursing & Midwifery Council) in mental health nursing. ✔ Strong grasp of statutory regulations and commitment to high-quality care improvement. ✔ Proven leadership and decision-making skills with:
