Director of Communications & External Affairs
Salary: Up to £125,000 depending on experience Location: Home-Based with regular travel to offices Basis: Permanent, Full-Time

What you’ll be doing
- Setting the direction for all internal and external communications
- Leading our brand and reputation, making sure everything we say reflects who we are
- Owning crisis and issues management, guiding us through complexity with confidence
- Building influential relationships across political, regional and sector networks
- Driving engaging internal communications that support change and bring people with us
- Acting as our senior spokesperson, representing Platform with credibility and impact
- Leading a high-performing team, creating a culture where people can bring their best

What you’ll bring
- You’ll be an experienced, strategic leader who knows how to operate at pace and at scale.
- A strong track record in senior communications, PR or external affairs roles
- Experience in complex or regulated environments (housing experience is a bonus)
- Deep expertise in reputation and crisis management
- A natural ability to influence and build trusted relationships
- Strong political awareness and sound judgement
- Experience leading communications through change
- A leadership style that’s collaborative, inclusive and empowering
- CIPR or CIM qualification is desirable.

Where you’ll be based
This is a home-based role, with regular travel (typically 2–3 days per week), mainly to Solihull and across our operating areas. You’ll need to be ready to travel at short notice when needed.
