Director of Corporate Development & Strategic Investments
Vero Recruitment has been exclusively appointed to recruit a Director of Corporate Development & Strategic Investments for a leading energy services organisation entering an exciting new phase of strategic growth. With a Head Office based in Aberdeen, Scotland, the position is offered on an in-office, hybrid, or remote basis. Applications are welcomed from candidates based in the UK.

The business is focused on identifying new markets, strengthening its portfolio, and creating long-term value through acquisitions, strategic investments, and partnerships. This role represents an opportunity to join a leadership team where strategic thinking, commercial judgement, and investment expertise will have a direct impact on the future direction of the organisation.
The role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, shareholders, and Board-level stakeholders, the Director of Corporate Development & Strategic Investments will lead the organisation’s inorganic growth, investment, and portfolio development agenda.

This is a highly visible and influential position, responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing acquisitions, divestments, strategic partnerships, and investment opportunities aligned with the organisation’s long-term strategy.
The successful candidate will combine strategic insight, financial expertise, and commercial judgement to shape investment decisions, optimise the business portfolio, and support future growth.
This is an opportunity for an experienced corporate development professional to move beyond transaction execution and play a central role in shaping the strategy and direction of an ambitious organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisitions, divestments, strategic partnerships, and investment opportunities
- Developing and managing a pipeline of opportunities aligned with strategic objectives
- Building relationships with industry participants, advisers, investors, and management teams to generate deal flow
- Assessing market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decisions
- Preparing investment papers, strategic recommendations, and transaction updates for Executive, shareholder, and Board-level stakeholders
- Leading valuation, financial modelling, and investment analysis to support capital allocation decisions
- Managing transaction processes, negotiations, and deal structuring activities
- Supporting post-transaction integration and value realisation activities
- Reviewing portfolio performance and identifying opportunities for further investment, optimisation, or divestment
- Developing corporate development frameworks, governance processes, and reporting mechanisms

Who we’re looking for
You will be an experienced corporate development, M&A, investment banking, private equity, and/or corporate finance professional with a proven track record of originating and leading complex transactions and strategic initiatives, ideally across the UK and International energy sector.
You will have strong commercial and financial analysis skills, including valuation and modelling experience, combined with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate compelling investment recommendations.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at Executive and Board level, building relationships across a wide stakeholder group, and working autonomously in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.
