Overview

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced data and analytics leader to shape a newly established Data function within a growing organisation. You'll have the chance to influence strategy, drive business-wide adoption of data, and build a centre of excellence that delivers measurable commercial impact.

The Company

Our client is a well-established organisation undergoing a significant transformation in how it uses data to support decision-making and business growth. They are investing heavily in modern data capabilities, with a strong technology foundation already in place and ambitious plans for the future. Operating within a highly regulated environment, they place a strong emphasis on innovation, customer outcomes, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As the Director of Data, you will lead the development of a centralised Data Centre of Excellence, helping the organisation become more data-driven and insight-led.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving a data-first culture across the business and increasing the use of analytics in decision-making.
  • Developing and delivering a roadmap for reporting, analytics, and business intelligence.
  • Building and scaling self-service analytics capabilities that empower business users.
  • Leading and developing an existing team of analytics, insight, and data science professionals.
  • Providing senior leadership on data strategy, governance, and insight delivery.
  • Partnering closely with technology and data engineering teams to ensure the right platforms and capabilities are in place.
  • Delivering trusted reporting and actionable insights that improve business performance.
  • Identifying opportunities for growth, optimisation, and commercial value through analytics.
  • Supporting strategic transformation programmes, including the development of advanced pricing and intelligence capabilities.
  • Remaining hands-on where required, providing technical guidance and leadership across delivery initiatives.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading analytics, business intelligence, or data insight functions.
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams and develop data capabilities.
  • Strong track record of driving business-wide adoption of data and analytics.
  • Experience implementing self-service reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Commercially focused with the ability to translate data into business value.
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to engage confidently with technical teams.
  • Experience working with modern cloud-based data environments, ideally Azure.
  • Comfortable operating within evolving environments and helping define future strategy.
  • Experience across analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and insight delivery.
