As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Design Director – Control Systems to lead our Controls Engineering division, mentor our growing team, and help shape the future of our business.
The opportunity:
This is a senior leadership role responsible for directing our Controls Engineering design operations while supporting business development and client growth. You'll act as the Engineer of Record, lead multidisciplinary teams, develop engineering standards, and build long-term relationships with clients across the mission-critical sector.
You'll play a key role in delivering innovative control systems solutions while helping expand Cranberry Consulting's presence in the rapidly growing data centre market.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Controls Engineering design team and oversee technical delivery.
- Develop internal engineering standards and client control system standards.
- Manage project quality, schedules, and team workloads.
- Support business development, sales, and client engagement.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Prepare control narratives, sequence of operations, specifications, and engineering reports.
- Review existing facilities and develop design recommendations.
- Select equipment and produce supporting technical documentation.
- Act as Engineer of Record for design deliverables.
- Mentor engineers and support recruitment, onboarding, and team development.
- Contribute to budgeting, business strategy, KPIs, and operational growth.
What We're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture.
- 10+ years' experience in Controls Engineering, MEP, Instrumentation, or Mission Critical Facilities.
- Strong knowledge of BMS, EPMS, SCADA, DCIM, and Building Automation Systems.
- Experience designing controls for data centres or other critical environments.
- Understanding of IT/OT infrastructure, Smart Buildings, and OT Cybersecurity.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and client relationships.
- Professional Engineering (PE) licence or the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states is highly desirable.
