Global Head of Design & Estimation

Overview

The Global Head of Design & Estimation will define, standardise, and continuously improve ONNEC Group’s global design and estimating framework. This role requires strategic leadership, technical oversight, and commercial influence to shape future growth.

This leader will ensure global alignment, drive operational excellence, and build a best-in-class team capable of supporting major international opportunities, complex technical solutions, and long-term success.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Direction

  • Design and execute a global design and estimating strategy aligned with ONNEC’s growth objectives.
  • Enhance global standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks for quality, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Establish a scalable operating model that supports growth, efficiency, and improved win rates across all regions.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Leadership Team (SLT) on global growth initiatives.

Organisational Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop regional design and estimating leaders while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Oversee workforce planning, capability development, and succession planning.
  • Promote knowledge sharing across regions to build a global community of excellence.
  • Strengthen relationships with key functions, including Operations, Sales, Sales Operations, and Finance.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Implement a continuous improvement programme to improve quality, error reduction, and commercial outcomes.

Partner, Manufacturer & Supply Chain Engagement

  • Develop and influence strategic relationships with key manufacturers and distributors.
  • Align global partner engagement and pricing strategies with procurement and solutions leadership.
  • Ensure consistent global processes for manufacturer engagement, technical validation, and pricing integrity.

Sales & Bid Support

  • Act as a senior technical authority for major bids, global opportunities, and strategic accounts.
  • Provide executive oversight on high-value or complex solutions across data centres, ICT, and structured cabling.
  • Support global sales teams in customer meetings, solution positioning, and value engineering.

Governance, Quality & Performance Management

  • Track global KPIs, including accuracy, utilisation, error rates, win/loss metrics, and quality measures.
  • Ensure robust governance in design reviews, estimation accuracy, and commercial compliance.
  • Report to executive leadership on performance, risk, capacity, and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years in senior leadership roles within technical design, estimating, or pre-sales.
  • Deep technical expertise in structured cabling, data centre technologies, and ICT infrastructure.
  • Proven global or multi-region team management experience.
  • Strong commercial mindset with large-scale bid support.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Financial acumen with ability to evaluate complex cost models.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-growth global environment.
  • Strategic thinking coupled with strong execution skills.
